Best coffee in the world? @ 11:08 PM

Was back from China.. During the trip, we went to a resturant and ordered blue mountain coffee. I was shocked to see that it cost RMB98 and I asked what's so great about this 蓝山coffee!

Stawberry's reply: that this is for you to research on.

So here's the answer:

Towards the eastern end of the beautiful island of Jamaica lies the majestic Blue Mountains. It is here in these mountains that some of the finest coffee beans in the world are grown. Blue Mountain coffee beans are so valuable that their cultivation is strictly protected by the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica.

With elevations up to 7500 feet, the Blue Mountains are among the tallest mountains in all of the Caribbean islands. The climate here is cool and moist, ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. The soil is especially rich and porous, so it drains extremely well. These rainforest like conditions produce the fantastic Blue Mountain coffee that is coveted worldwide.

So what is so special about this coffee from Jamaica's Blue Mountains? Most people say its the smooth taste, rich body, incredible aroma, and pleasant after taste. It also has a reputation for having very little bitterness. This is a coffee sure to please even the most particular coffee connoisseurs. Because of the rainforest like conditions of the Blue Mountains, the coffee cherries are allowed to ripen very slowly and thus, fully develop their exquisite taste characteristics.

Coffee grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica is protected as a trademark worldwide. What this means is that only coffee certified by the Coffee Industry Board of Jamaica can be labeled as Blue Mountain Coffee. Therefore, it must actually be grown in the Blue Mountains and up to a certain level of standard established by the board.

These measures are in place to assure consumers that coffee beans in other areas of Jamaica are
not called Blue Mountain Coffee for marketing purposes. The Coffee Industry Board's mission is to protect the lofty reputation of this incredible coffee for years to come.

For me, I think it's the same!
